Ben and Vico (two artists… one work)
Both from Tours, graphic design students, they wanted to participate in the Marcel Duchamp-themed residency and each illustrated one side of this old castle door, recovered on site. They thus paid tribute to the “ready-made” of MD
This system imagined by Marcel Duchamp in his cramped apartment in Paris,
allowed a single door to close either the bathroom or the bedroom.
It was then, not a DADA gesture, but a practical reason.
In 1964, 20 years later, Marcel Duchamp recovers the door and
he exhibited in New York as a “ready-made”
Thus the object, always remaining the same, changes state, nature, status.
